Playa Samara is located in the central area of Guanacaste in an extremely prolific area for Sport Fishing. We have many spots for Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper and Grouper near the shore and the luck of having the deepest drops where you can catch Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo, Mahi-Mahi and Yellow Fin Tuna a few miles from the coast. This makes our displacement to the spots short and gives us the opportunity to take full advantage of the time on the boat.
The Pacific waters off Costa Rica are also called the “Billfish Capital of the World”. In fact, during peak season, from December through the end of April, you can reliably expect to find Pacific Sailfish, Blue, Black and Striped Marlin, Mahi-Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna and Wahoo, quite close to shore.
Italian, born and raised in the eternal city of Rome, passionate about fishing from a very young age, thanks to his father Stefano Passarelli he was able to deepen various fish techniques passing from lakes, rivers and sea.
Taking advantage of the great diversity of fishing situations that can be found in Italy he was able to deepen techniques such as: bass fishing, surf casting, fly fishing and many others until he had the definitive growth as a sport fisherman on a boat, fishing off the Roman coasts, where fishing for big Bluefin is certainly the main attraction.
He has been living in Costa Rica for 10 years with his wife Arianna, learning all the secrets of fishing in this magical place, specializing in trolling, live baiting and popping, in the constant search for Marlin Sailfish, Roosterfish and many others in the Guanacaste area.
Still in love with Fly fishing when he gets the chance, he goes looking for tarpon going around the various spots that Costa Rica offers
Stefano is a legend of fishing in Italy, a complete fisherman with experience and passion like few others in all fishing techniques. Born in Rome, he began fishing as a young man mostly at sea.
He began his competitive career in Surf Casting which led him to participate in the world championship, firs as athlete and subsequently as a coach. He has been a famous fishing reporter for many years, he currently collaborates for SKY Italia in the production of series dedicated to sport fishing.
Captain and owner of a fantastic Buddy Davis 28 with which he organizes fishing charters off the coast of Rome.
Jonathan was born and raised here in Playa samara, more precisely in matapalo, a small district of Samara where people live mostly from fishing. He’s an expert captain and an incredible spear fisherman and this means that he knows very well the spots near our Coasts.
Jonathan has been collaborating with us since day one and is a key player in our project.
